Elizabeth works in utilitarian stoneware
I am a public school teacher, so working with clay is making use of a different kind of creativity. I am very committed to being useful and producing useful work. I have treasured things that have a spark of the creator present; I hope some of the things I make convey some tiny spark of me to the people who use them.
Elizabeth Mize Artist Bio
I grew up in rural Iredell County, North Carolina around people who valued making things. I learned how to throw pots from my aunt, who was a potter in the Chapel Hill area for many years. My husband and I have lived in the Burlington area for over twenty years, where we make things.
