I photograph on black and white film, primarily with a large format view camera, and print in my darkroom on traditional silver gelatin paper. My choice of tools to make my images has evolved over time. Large format photography forces me to slow down and consider each image carefully. The size, weight, and expense of sheet film means that most trips into the field only result in a few carefully chosen images. An upside down, backward image in the viewfinder forces a careful consideration of composition! The result, for me, has been fewer, but better images.
Glenn Collins Artist Bio
Glenn Collins received a BFA in Studio Arts from UNC-Greensboro in 1973. His concentration was in sculpture, but soon after graduation, demands of a job introduced him to photography. He soon found he loved an art form he never studied in school. He is self taught, but was influenced and inspired by the writings of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Fred Picker.
