Martha Hamblin
Photophish Imaging & Art
Mixed media, photography, pottery
My photographic style runs the gamut from documentary macro to vista panoramas, and abstract, altered, and creative images. I started with 35mm and medium format film, and now create images exclusively with digital cameras. I still work with prints to make image-based mixed media and hand-colored photos.
In addition, I make hand-built pottery. I am a builder at heart. I am intrigued by the many practical considerations that go into making a piece, whether it is functional or decorative. Using natural and found objects and other textures, my approach is generally casual and relaxed. Even with the more formal structures of the boxes I craft, I let go of perfection and celebrate the essence and character of the hand-made object.
