Oil paint, scratchboard

I find plants to be endlessly fascinating subjects. Graceful and beautiful from a distance – up close, they often reveal strikingly beautiful architectural patterns. Some of my work is traditional, staying within the conventions of botanical art, and some is not – but as a rule my botanical work is larger than life – often, much larger.

Artist Bio

I’ve worked in many different mediums over the years, but in 1994 I discovered botanical art and returned to painting, eventually earning a certificate in botanical illustration from the NC Botanical Gardens at UNC. I’m a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Artists and a founding member of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts in Hillsborough NC, where my work is regularly displayed.
